Updates: February 2002

Yeah, I know I'm a bad site-operator. I
really had planned to resume updates after a rough couple weeks of school ended
in mid-January. Oh, well, I guess this lengthy period of nothing isn't so bad;
I've done worse (-: Unfortunately, school never slowed down as I had hoped. In
fact, if anything, it has gotten worse. The Academic Challenge competition
season started a few weeks ago, and with myself being "privileged" enough to be
a part of the fine band of geeks and nerds and oddballs I am being "honored" to
compete at the all-day competitions on Saturday. The problem is the French
teacher is the coordinator, and French is evil, making the French teacher some
sort of evil French thing. Nah, I like the French. But O'Callaghan is still
evil. Yeah, and I can't suffer her violent physcial abuse for saying that,
either, because she doesn't know the URL of this site! Yay! But seriously, that
is taking up a lot of time, as are my other after-school activites (expecially
the ones the teachers are begging me to join).
Complicating the situation is the continuous bombardment
of my being by the force known as homework. It's not that it's that hard, in
fact most of it is boring and pointless, but the sheer quantity (which happens
to be really much) causes the problems. My teachers aren't helping matter much
either; my two hardest classes, Algebra III Honors and Chemistry, the ones where
I actually have to think to grasp new concepts, the ones with the most homework,
the ones wielding the most evil energy, are taught to by an idiot and an idiot,
respectively. Idiot might not be the right terms (they do display understanding
of the material), but they are completely inept and transmitting knowledge.
Translation: I have no time to do anything because school
is evil.
There was one thing I didn't mind giving time up for that
was related to school: writers' club. Currently its existence is nothing more
than a mere memory. I attribute the issues to a complete lack of enthusiasm by
the senior who started the club (in all honesty he is busy looking at colleges
and such) and the total abscence of writings writting by members to be
presented. It may not have been the best time in the world watching a group
of...different...seniors mumble things lost on you and the only other non-senior
member of the club besides yourself, but it was worth it because it had to do
with school and writing, which gave me something to moderately look forward to
during the lond days (every day).
I like ranting. I need to do this more often.
Also making my life miserable is karate. School is
detracting from my karate time, knocking me out of shape and making me feel like
a sack of egg yolks. Worse than that is attending karate because most of the
students were born after I started, so I have nothing in common with them, they
are hyper, and they could care less about learning how to kill someone with
their bare hands. Oh, and my primary karate school is assimilating the students
from another school which went out of business, and since these students
practice a style not even remotely similar to Tang Soo Do things are REALLY
interesting.
The weather is also messing with me because, to my
knowledge, it is the middle of winter, yet we've had less and four inches of
snow here this year and the temperatures have been in the 50's for the past
couple of weeks. I prefer cold, dry weather to El Nino/La Nina/Enron. I said,
"Enron." Maybe I can say "noo-kyu-lur,' and pretend I'm living the talking
Shrubbery-in-chief's life! Bush isn't that bad...the pretzels are just out to
get him.
And a last subject of discussion: computers. We have six
in my family. Not a one of them works properly. Hence lots of issued working on
this beast. But the computers aren't the sole perpetrator; I just haven't felt
like updating because I am sick of just writing fanfics.
Expect some updates of note soon.
